Found this article on Sainthood on the BBC. Growing up protestant in a protestant dominated landscape I never really fully understood the concept/it was always seen in a negative light. It was not until a Catholic friend in College explained to me his take on saints. Mike shared that he does not worship them as probally myself and other protestant brothers believed at that time but rather saw them as great brothers an sisters of the faith who went before him (a cloud of witnesses if you will). Spiritual mentors from history. (How many average protestants have religious "heroes" from the past? Or could name more then 2-3 Christian leaders from history other then biblical characters and Luther?)
He explained that "praying to these saints" was more along the same lines as if he asked me to pray for him....food for thought....
