The band arrived at 7:30. Lisa and I led four services and I did not put my guitar down until 1:00pm. Today was full of new faces and names, yet none of the services would have been possible without the volunteers. The church service we just served (Salem's Contemporary Service) knew and got that principle of servant hood. Our new church Christ Church is a congregation that gets serving as well. In fact that’s probably one of the things that comes to mind for most of the people that live in East Greenwich. These people give meals away and have heath care available on Fridays for those who cannot afford it. They have a furniture collection, volunteer at after school programs, have adopted an inner-city elementary school and provide it with supplies and friendly faces ready to share God's love and story with many children and families. Involvement with the community both in the church and out of the church is how to grow personally and change others life’s.
The church works the best when we all chip in and serve. It works better when it’s more then Sunday, it works better when you serve and get involved when you and I move from observer and at tender to servant and participant. My recommendation, find out ways to get involved more then just Sunday, I did and it changed my life.
