The below is from our friend Pete Roeth who is serving in Cambodia (link to his blog on right hand side of our blog)
Partners in Ministry,
As some of you may know, there has been a three month conflict (some would say centuries long conflict) between Cambodia and Thailand over ownership of the Preah Vihear temple in the northwest of Cambodia. While it's been a tense situation, it's been calm most of the time...until a few days ago when fighting broke out. Now both countries are sending soldiers and artillery to the area, closing border crossings, and the Thais are even telling their nationals to leave Cambodia. There's lots of bad history between these two countries, and tensions are high and words are threatening.
And besides the horrors of war, there are other problems that occur when countries decide to fight. The tourism business declines (as is already happening), prices rise (gas and rice have doubled overnight in one border city), and civilians panic (there is currently a lot of people leaving their homes near the border).
So, please pray for peace during this potentially explosive time. Ask the Lord to bring calmness to government and military leaders. Intercede for the hundreds of thousands of people who live along the Thai/Cambodian border. Pray for wisdom and courage for the national believers and foreign missionaries who are in these dangerous areas.

Thanks for your intercession,
Pete
P.S. In case you're wondering about me, I'm in a safe city and haven't felt the effects yet.
