thats what community (church) is all about

Sunday at church I witnessed community in action in a beautiful and profound way.
A new family to the church (and to the USA for that matter) attended Christ Church Christmas Eve and as a result now is coming and pursuing becoming members (which is really cool in the first place).

But even more profound is what I witnessed during communion.

The new couple had two beautiful children, a girl probably 10 years of age a tiny infant!

When the man went up for communion he simply handed the child to the man next to him in the row (who was a stranger by the way... in many African cultures families/communities/churches they take seriously the involvment of "it takes a village to raise a child")! The man had no thought... he just handed his tiny infant off to a stranger as he walked to the altar to take communion!

What was more amazing was the man who was randomly handed the infant was both confused and then simply over-joyed even though he had never met this man or his family (he was just simply next to them in church)!

It was amazing to watch from my perspective (as I lead worship during communion).
It was a beautiful Community interaction!

THATS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT PEOPLE - LETS BE THE CHURCH!
WOOO HOOO....

WOW! What a neat and touching moment God let you observe. You also had the eyes to see it, Jeff. May the Lord continue to bless your ministry at Christ Church!
