Top 10 Albums (in my mind) for 2007

So I know it’s a little early for best Albums of 2007 but well someone has to start the dialogue at some point. In know particular order....

Arcade Fire-Neon Bible
(incredible sophomore effort, brilliant band who has a bright future (Canadian=all the exposure of a U.S. band with out U.S. label)

The Decemberists-The Crane Wife
Great Concept album. A children’s story put to music complete with an Irish feel…can’t go wrong.

Sufjan Stevens –The Avalanche
Even though this album was supposed to be “left over tracks” from Illinois it was still brilliant and every bit as good as Illinoise. Well done Sufjan, Well done.

RadioHead-In Rainbows
A record without a record label and RadioHead, need I say more

Andrew Bird-Armchair Apocrypha
This brilliant writer and concert violinist is at it again. With Martin Dosh…wow…

Feist-So Sorry
Andrew really got me interested in Feist and I am grateful. Another Canadian on the list

Bloc Party-A Weekend in the City
Great U.K. band with a good follow up album. Need to improve lyrical quality however

Iron and Wine-The Shepherds Dog
Such a great tone and feel (It makes me want to drive like a prius or something its so organic)

Wilco-Sky Blue Sky
Got to respect Jeff Tweedy however it (the CD) took awhile to grow on me this time

Cloud Cult- The Meaning of 8
Great MN band with a lot of potential. But lets be honest their videos are weird/bad…come on at least one MN band on the list

..........................................................................
People lets see your top ten lists come on now…any additions subtractions?

How about Band of Horses? Their new release just came out and I expect it to be excellent when the UPS guy drops it off...but their first album (2006?), Everything All the Time, is excellent.

how's the new common record? i haven't had a chance to test that out yet. and why are we doing 2007 lists when the year's not over... perhaps jeff was okay with avalanche if it was released after october 06...

We just want to throw in Hampton the Hamster-Hamsterdance the Album. Revolutionary technocountry. Best to come out of this genre in a long, long time.

I can go along with most of the list, but I will kick out the 06 albums, and I still can't bring myself to put Radiohead in a top list.
Tom Waits' Orphans; Peter and the Wolf's Lightness; and Beirut's Flying Club Cup would round out my ten. I do think that Andrew and the Arcade Fire undoubtedly put out the two best albums of the year.

So, I have to retract, Orphans was released in 06 as well. This may require some thought

Beirut: The Flying Club Cup / Gulag Orkestar

Explosions In The Sky: All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone
